As new cases of coronavirus erupt around the world, health officials are turning to phones to help slow the spread of infections.

Thanks to the technology available on Apple and Google phones, people can now receive pop-up notifications in some states if they are close to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, writes CNN.

Alerts come through state health department apps that use Bluetooth technology to detect when you (or more precisely, your phone) have been in close contact with an infected person's phone.

While these apps may not keep you safe (they only let you know when you are exposed), they can prevent others from becoming infected if precautions, such as self-guarantee, are taken after receiving an alarm.

Millions of people are registering, even though these applications are not yet available in many states.

Health officials believe alerts can be especially helpful in cases where an infected person has been in contact with strangers, for example on a bus, train or cash register, who otherwise would not have known they were exposed.

How notifications work

For exposure notifications to be effective, Android users must enable Bluetooth and download their state notification app for Covid-19.

When someone has done the test and tested positive, they will be provided with a PIN to put on their phone. Any other phone near the phone with that PIN, usually within six feet or less, for at least 15 minutes, will receive an alarm telling the user to quarantine or notify a doctor.

The application assesses how close you were to the other person and how long this "contact" lasted.

 

High temperature is one of the symptoms of Covid-19 and measuring it is very important.

Having the right thermometer at home or at work is already considered vital.

But in which part of the body is the most accurate temperature measurement made?

According to health experts for the Wall Street Journal, the forehead, mouth, anus, ears and armpits are the best areas of the body that accurately show the temperature level.

However, the infrared thermometer only works for the forehead and ears.

If you use a digital thermometer, the most accurate measurement is made through the anus and mouth enough to hold it for over 30 seconds.

In the armpits, the thermometer should be held for up to 5 minutes.

Ears can be challenging to measure temperature due to wax.

If you use different thermometers for use from the anus and mouth in your home, it is best not to confuse them in use for hygienic reasons.

 

Over 59 million people have been infected with the Covid-19 virus worldwide, reports Gazeta Express.

Covid-19 is this year’s headline running out and the virus is still there. The second wave has started and with it the viruses of the season. People find it difficult to separate the symptoms whether they are from the coronavirus or the common flu.

However one study shows that there is a noticeable difference with sty conditions and that is the order of the symptoms. A team of researchers at the University of Southern California tried to understand the most common order in which symptoms appear.

Data from 55,000 cases in China were used for the study.

Based on the results of this study, the order of symptoms is as follows:

Nausea and / or vomiting

diarrhea

When they expanded their analysis to include additional symptoms, the order again looked similar:

Fever / Fever

Sore throat, muscle aches or headaches

Nausea and / or vomiting

diarrhea

And finally the loss of taste or smell

The researchers also compared the possible progression of Covid flu symptoms and found that the flu was more likely to start with coughing instead of fever. People with the flu were also more likely to have body aches, headaches and sore throats before they had a fever.

Of course these results are not universal, as there are people who have no fever at all from Covid.

Another limitation of this study is also the fact that many people do not remember the true order of the symptoms.

The WHO special envoy for COVID-19 criticizes Europe's response to the Corona pandemic, saying the countries failed to take advantage of a calm in the summer to prepare for the next wave.

World Health Organization (WHO) Special Envoy for COVID-19 David Nabarro told the Solothurner Zeitung in Switzerland that Europe is likely to see a third wave of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic in early 2021 before a vaccine.

"They lost the construction of the necessary infrastructure during the summer months after putting the first wave under control," Nabarro said.

"Now we have the second wave. "If they do not build the necessary infrastructure, we will have a third wave early next year."

He also said that Europe could learn a lot from Asian countries. "The response to the virus must be strong and determined," he said.

"Especially in the beginning, when the virus is spreading very slowly in different communities. "If you react without much effort, the problem will get worse very quickly."

For a while, Europe enjoyed reducing the number of infections over the summer, but now the infections are rising again. Germany, with a population of 84 million, had its case increase by 14,000 on Sunday. In contrast, Japan's 120 million population had only 2,596 new cases on Saturday. South Korea’s population of 51 million reported only 386 new cases on the same day and there have been only about 30,700 confirmed cases in total since the pandemic began.

A big problem, Nabarro added, is that very few political decision-makers have realized that the virus is spreading exponentially rather than arithmetically. "Exponential means that numbers can increase 8 times a week, 40 times in two weeks, 300 times in three weeks, over 1000 times in four weeks, and so on," he said.

In Asia, meanwhile, the numbers are relatively low because "people are fully engaged, they adapt behaviors that make it difficult for the virus," Nabarro said.

"They keep their distance, wear masks, isolate themselves when they are sick, wash their hands and surfaces. "They protect the most vulnerable groups." Nabarro also said that Asia did not lift the restrictions prematurely. "You have to wait until the case numbers are low and stay low," he said. "Europe's response was incomplete."

He also praised the communication between the authorities in Asia and Europe. "They just have a message: If we want our economy to be strong and we want to maintain our freedoms, we all need to stick to a few basic things."
